Mrs. Heather Carter

School Counselor

Heather Carter serves as ESM’s School Counselor. She is originally from Manteno, Illinois and moved to Fort Wayne with her family in 2018 when she accepted a job as a hospice social worker. Heather attended Olivet Nazarene University and received her Bachelor’s of Social Work. In college she felt God’s call toward Social Work saying "To me, Social Work fits perfectly with the teachings of Jesus: it's serving those marginalized by society, speaking against injustice, and providing compassion and counsel to those in need.” She received her Master’s of Social Work through the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and she is a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Indiana.

Heather and her husband, Brandon, have been married for over a decade and have a daughter, Claire, who attends ESM. Heather tells us “ESM has been an integral part of our lives since coming to Fort Wayne. My daughter has been cared for and supported by so many faculty members who have been instrumental in not only her academic success, but also her spiritual growth. Our family has made great friendships through ESM and I am so blessed to be able to serve our school in this capacity.”

Heather is a member at First Church of God, Columbia City where she serves in Children’s Ministries. Heather enjoys being a homebody, spending time with family, being outside, reading, cooking and baking.
