We believe every family should be able to afford a Christian education for their child. To make this possible, members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and St. Michael Lutheran Church together provide approximately half of the total cost of education for all students enrolled. Despite the fact that the cost of education continues to climb steeply, the support and commitment of our two church congregations helps us provide excellent academic programming at a cost that is still within reach.
For those who need some extra financial help, various forms of financial aid and scholarships are available. Last year, approximately 65% of our students received some form of scholarship. No family who demonstrated financial need was turned away.

BIG CHANGES IN SCHOOL CHOICE: Your Family May Now Qualify for Indiana Choice Scholarships!
Indiana state legislators strengthened and expanded school choice for all Indiana parents in the recent passing of HB 1001. Big changes are ahead for school choice in Indiana!
1. The income threshold for receiving an Indiana Choice Scholarship is dramatically increased (Choice scholarship and SGO). Please carefully review the household income levels provided below. Many families who did not qualify previously will now be eligible for a Choice scholarship.
2. The amount that a Choice scholarship may be worth is dramatically increased. Previously, multiple tiers for vouchers existed and a student may have only qualified for a partial Choice scholarship. Now, every financially qualifying student is eligible for the full amount based upon the school district of your residence.
For more information and frequently asked questions - see 2021 Big Changes in School Choice Letter in Documents section below.
DOES MY FAMILY QUALIFY FOR INDIANA SCHOOL CHOICE SCHOLARSHIP?
If you meet the income guidelines based on household size according to the chart above AND your child has a ‘track’ to School Choice – you may be eligible! CONTACT US today to learn more.
WHAT IF I MEET THE INCOME GUIDELINES BUT DO NOT HAVE A TRACK TO SCHOOL CHOICE?
No problem! ESM is blessed with private donations from individuals and businesses to provide scholarships to financially qualifying students (See chart above for income guidelines). These privately donated funds create the opportunity for scholarships varying in value from $500 up to the cost of tuition. The scholarships are issued from the Lutheran Scholarship Granting Organization of Indiana. In addition to providing financial assistance to current tuition, these scholarships can create a track to a future Indiana Choice Scholarship.

When are scholarship applications due?
Completed scholarship applications are due May 19th for priority consideration. Only families that have completed the online enrollment application, have paid the $150 K-8 family application fee and/or $85 application fee per child enrolled in the Preschool Program, and have been accepted to Emmanuel-St. Michael Lutheran School will be considered. If you have not completed the steps to re-enroll for 2021-22 follow the instructions on the Re-Enrollment Information page of our website.
When will I know if I have received a scholarship?
Due to the recent updates in the Indiana School Choice Scholarship program, changes are affecting those families who have already submitted for a scholarship for the 2021-2022 school year and also those who have not yet submitted, ESM will need time to review qualifications based on these new guidelines and create new statements of financial support. Please be patient if you submitted your scholarship application by the previous priority date of April 15. We will communicate as soon as possible. But, with the newest guidelines in place, the news you will receive will likely be even more favorable than you may have expected!
What if I submit my scholarship application after the deadline?
Scholarships will continue to be accepted after the priority deadline. However, following the priority deadline, applications will be considered based on the remaining funds available.
