Miss Gwen Kanning

Gwen Kanning is a graduate of Valparaiso University, Concordia Lutheran High School and ESM, which is where she first decided to become a teacher, when she was in 2nd grade!  Gwen previously taught Kindergarten, grades 3 & 4, and preschool before teaching primarily 4-5’s PreKindergarten at Emmanuel Preschool and now ESM.  Her commitment to early childhood education spans three decades.  Her love for children, heart for mentoring early childhood teachers, and service within the church has blessed Emmanuel-St. Michael. Gwen enjoys traveling with family members, listening to music, attending Christian concerts, reading, and learning more about United States and world history.  She loves reading stories with her students, but her favorite part of the school day is singing and sharing Jesus’ love with children during Bible Time.
