Kids love tradition, and we have many special ones that help shape the nine years of a student's life at ESM.
Some of our most important traditions are ones you will only find at a parochial school -- among them, weekly chapel services where students actively participate in worship, and a meaningful Christmas Vespers worship service where students proclaim the birth of Christ and help everyone celebrate the true, eternal reason for Christmas.
Spirit Week is everyone's favorite chance to dress silly and show school spirit from blue hair all the way down to striped toes. There are many more activities -- some that promote learning, such as Reading Rock and Roll, and others that just make school more fun.
Following are just a few examples of activities the entire school family enjoys.
- Chapel Buddies
- Snow Better Time to Read
- School Carnival
- Learning Fair/Book Fair
- Family reading night
- 100th day of school celebrations
- Dr. Seuss's birthday
- Talent Show
- Flower and vegetable show
- Spring sports award night
- Jump Rope for Heart/Hoops for Heart
- Grandparents Day
- Reading Rock 'n Roll (Union Campus)
- Spring Musical
One School, One Book!:
Each family will be receiving a copy of Nim's Island along with a reading schedule by Friday, February 26th and we will begin reading on Wednesday, March 2nd! Anything can happen on Nim's Island, a magical place ruled by a young girl's imagination. It is an existence that mirrors that of her favorite literary character, Alex Rover - the world's greatest adventurer. But Alexandra, the author of the Rover books, leads a reclusive life in the big city. When Nim's father goes missing from their island, a twist of fate brings her together with Alexandra. Now, they must draw courage from their fictional hero, Alex Rover, and find strength in one another to conquer Nim's Island. Each weeknight, we hope your family will spend a little time together reading Nim's Island.
