About 8th Grade at ESM
*** Math – Students study either pre-algebra or algebra.
*** Literature – At least two novels are studied during the year.
*** English – A term paper is written, and a speech is given. Students
also participate in various writing contests during the school year.
*** Special projects include a “Story of My Life” scrapbook.
*** Class trip in May – We visit both Gettysburg and Washington, D.C.
*** Extracurricular activities include volleyball, soccer, basketball,
cheerleading, gymnastics, wrestling, and track. Students may also
participate in the city-wide Mathcounts competition as well as ISSMA and
the LAEE Music and Arts Festival.
*** Academic excellence is recognized through inclusion on the Honor
Roll. Class valedictorians and salutatorians are also named for the
graduating class.
Preparing our students for high school, as well as for their adult life,
is an extremely important objective at ESM. It is our goal that they
will be prepared socially, academically, and spiritually when they leave
our school.
