ESM’s Kindergarten Times

Please remember to attend the ESM School Carnival over at Union Street from 4 – 8 p.m. today!
 

 

 

Please help your child participate in a book exchange on Wednesday, May 21, 2008.  Instead of our regular library time that week, each child will bring in at least one used book in GREAT condition to be used in an exchange at the library that day.  For each book your child brings, he/she may trade for that many “new” used books brought in by other children.  You may begin to bring the books in next week.  I will keep track of them and give your child the correct number of trade slips on the 21st.

What Will We Study Next Week?

Ø        Jesus’ Time:  Timothy

Ø       Memory:  Hear the Word of the Lord.  Ezekiel 13:2

Ø        Centers:   We will continue working on our sounds, words and math concepts through hands on experience and “play”.  These are the best ways to learn. Ask me what we did!J

Ø        Language Arts:  Keep working on those short vowel sounds!  The letters we’ve learned so far are:  A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H,  I, J, K,  L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X and Y.  Z is our final letter!   No practice sheet this week, just keep practicing those early readers at home!  We’ve been reading our special stories from our letter books.  Be sure to review these with your child when he/she brings the letterbooks home.  Is there anyone who wants to come help us out from 9:45-10:45 each Tuesday?  Or any other time?  Thanks to Mrs. McLain for offering to listen on Thursdays.  Mrs. Sue Beaver, Alayna’s great aunt, is also coming every other Friday to listen to us read to her.  Thank you, ladies! 

Ø      Math   We will continue working with bigger numbers, up to 31 now, in chapter 16.  We will be counting by fives and tens and reviewing even numbers as well.  Keep practicing the adding and subtracting all summer!  Children will continue using it and need to recall facts quickly.

Ø      Science: We are continuing to learn about day and night.  Sun, moon, stars and more will be explored as we continue to learn about God’s wonderful creation.
